  • Students will investigate their environment using the scientific method.

  • Students will identify and list energy sources, distinguishing between renewable and nonrenewable, and how they flow through natural systems.

  • Students will list living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem, noting the qualities of healthy habitats.

  • Students will draw and interpret a simple water cycle.

  • Students will list careers in natural resources.

  • Students will identify the different types of pollution and their causes.

  • Students will list environmental problems and actions taken by people.

  • Students will identify a local environmental issue, develop a plan to solve the problem, and communicate that information to local, state, or national officials.

  • Students will identify how their personal actions impact the environment and understand their environmental responsibility to their community.
